I remember the night. Jackie and I were standing in the production booth of our church. We had just talked about our schedule and how crazy it was going to be over the next 6 weeks. As the music played, as we gave daps to each of the people on our team that were coming in to church, as we chatted with volunteers Jackie said: “You are right, we Get to do this.” Even in the crazy it is a gift. It’s part of the hustle.
I love the HUSTLE. The concept can be polarizing but it is about approach not overworking and unhealthy expectations. I believe that the gas that runs the hustle engine is attitude.
Do you understand that today you GET 2 do your job? You don’t have 2. You are making stuff, creating, doing ministry. It is a gift. There are a LOT of people who would love to trade places with you. Even on those crazy weeks like Easter & Christmas when you put in 100 hours, it is because you GET 2 share the gift of hope, the promise of love, and the power of forgiveness. The scandal of grace is real and you GET 2 share that via the work you do! That is Get 2!
And then there are the times when things don’t go our way. When problems arise. When issues need to be dealt with. The moments we can really easy drift into complaining. Just remember the problems that we are complaining about today, the stuff we are fussing about instead of facing, are problems that someone else is praying that one day they will get to experience and tackle!
You see your attitude is going to determine how you steward the opportunities that God has in front of you. Good & bad.
So today do you GET 2 or do you HAVE 2? If you HAVE 2 it’s time to make a change and find a GET 2!
