Be Personal

Great communicators connect because they find a chord that resonates with thier audience. As humans, we tend to keep our mistakes a secret. The funny thing is we ALL have secrets. And if we would share our secrets, instead of hiding them or pretending we are perfect, we could really see people set free and helped through tough situations.

We all want to be loved. Pretty simple thought. At the same time, a lot of us tend to struggle with acceptance from time to time. We fear man. We are afraid of rejection. That is why when we hear songs about receiving the love of God, about being accepted, about how we do not have to earn our place in His family, they strike such a chord with us.

Next time you get a chance to communicate, step out of your comfort zone. Share your secrets. Embrace something you have lived through, or are currently living through, and use it to connect with your audience.

He has made all things new, especially our secrets.

    dude-
nice post man – actually brilliant.

a truer word was never spoken. people want complete vulnerability man, that’s why Blue Like Jazz has resonated with so many people. Because he just let people know the truth about him, his struggles and his journey of making sense of his faith and so on. and like you said there is such incredible power in that act of being honest about ourselves with others. A few months ago I heard WIlliam Young, author of “The Shack” be interviewed on stage at 722, and this brother let it ALL out – I kid you not. I couldn’t believe he would be that transparent, but I tell you there was an incredible power there that night. Truly, it was something for the ages.
    Love that last line.
“He has made all things new, especially our secrets.”

    wow.

like this other quote I saw:
    “every saint has a past.
    and every sinner a future.”
