Can you tell what he is saying?
You never stop learning, if you pay attention.
I was in a meeting with a couple of guys from my team and we started talking about how I text them. They went on telling me that sometimes they get text messages from me and just wonder, “what the heck is he talking about.” It is funny, because when I write the text, I know exactly what I am asking.
When communicating, we have to be clear. VERY clear. People can not read your mind! We have to take the time to fill in all the blanks, but to do it with as few of words as possible. Words get in the way of the message. And if we want get really good at communicating, we need to build a relationship with the people we are communicating with. Find out how they respond, what their language is, what makes them work. Invest time in people, its always pays off.
It is so important to clearly define our expectations, our goals, and our desires. Expectations are crazy, non-tangible things. We know WHAT we want and how we want it. If we do not make it totally clear, someone else my give us what they THINK we want, and that is a long way from what we expected. If we set expectations clearly, we set goals and make them clear, and everyone knows the goal that is desired, communication will really flow.
I shouldn’t expect you to tell what I am saying, I should just tell you, clearly.

This brings the most frustration to me.
I get annoyed and frustrated when people do not understand what I am saying.
But I think it is exactly what you are saying….it makes sense in my head and so I skip steps to explain it to someone else because I already know what I am talking about.
Clarity is King
