Do You Know Your Main Job?

I was sitting at the Dove Award Nomination press conference listening to Pete Wilson. Pete is a GREAT communicator. About 3 years ago Pete and I had coffee for the first time and he probably does not realize the significants of that meeting. At that at that time in my life I felt I was done with churches and pastors…if I am being honest. It was such a great time that I walked away from Panera that day encouraged to not give up on it all…it was a defining conversation. I am thankful for Pete, his family, and his team…they are awesome people.

Yesterday during Pete’s talk, he made the statement: “Our main job is to stay connected to God.”

WOW. So often our identities get caught up in WHAT we do, not in WHO we are. When we realize that our main job is to stay connected to God, it forces us out of our occupation and into our destiny. It propels us to a life of grace, love, and mercy. What a great reminder for a room full of creatives who can easily fall into the trap of believing the persona and not the truth.

I was thankful for that reminder.

It reminds me of the arts conference a couple of years ago at willow…it was called “what is right with the world”
A room full of artist that can usually focus on the negative things being encouraged to focus on beauty. It was awesome

John 15, right? If we’re not connected to the vine, we won’t produce fruit. It’s a reminder I’ve been trying to incorporate into my routine every day.
