Ideas are like Swiss Cake Rolls

Some people are idea creators.

Some people execute those ideas.

Unlike “Swiss Cake Rolls” usually you do not find both in the same package.

I think that deep down everyone has the ability to be creative. God built us with imagination. However, creativity is like any muscle, you have to exercise it…and it will hurt before it gets strong.

I tend to find in organizations that there are a lot of executors, but very few real idea creators. That does not mean that there is not a lot of people who THINK they are idea creators, just very few that are really good at it. There are a slew of reason as to way, but usually it tends to be an issue of the right people filling the right lanes. Just like in a “Swiss Cake Roll” there is a place for the cream and a place for the cake. Both are necessary, both are good, but both have a roll (no pun intended)

In organization there are a lot of enemies of creativity: bureaucracy, deadlines, habits, and just lack of desire. It is really easy to go with what you have always done, its easy to not stretch to find that new concept that has not been executed before.

But good creativity tastes great, just like a “Swiss Cake Roll”. Creativity energizes a team. When executed properly it motivates better than any speech, graph, or pie chart. It becomes a banner that everyone can wave, as a victory. It becomes something for teams to be proud of…it creates chemistry and unity.

Know your roll. If you the idea creator…CREATE WITH PASSION AND ZEAL. DON”T GIVE UP.
If your the executor, EXECUTE ON A LEVEL THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN. Hit the deadlines, cross the “t’s”, dot the “i’s”. Keep the team moving, organized, and on point. When everyone does their part, we can all enjoy our “Swiss Cake Roll”.
