We can’t control everything about Sunday. We want to, but we can’t.
The truth is this: we need to control the things we can control. These
things we need to dominate. For the rest, we need to stay out of the
way and allow God to work.
The weather, how people react, or who is going to show up for service
are all out of our control. What we sing, how we play, how our
programming and transitions flow – these are things we can control.
We can also control the amount of prayer, preparation, and
intentionality we are putting into our weekend experiences. We need to
do our work and be prepared. The earlier that we’re ready, the more
space we have to be creative and adjust when things do not go as we
had planned. God created the earth with intention. This is a great
example of how we should plan our weeks, as well.
So prepare, pray, then execute. Get out of the way and allow God to do
what he intended all along.
Good word man . . . It’s awesome to know that we were created to create and that the Master Creator has the master plan. Thanks for the reminder to bend my ear to the calling, put my hand to the plow and the privilege of being His instrument in the process . . .
Peace,

wow, great reminder. I was just sitting here, praying in preparation for the morning…and realize how self-focused my prayer was. Many times, I’m more concerned about how I’ll come across, how successful I’ll feel, and whether or not I’ll make an embarrassing mistake on stage. Other times, I need to let go of how impressed I hope people will be. At this point (Sunday morning) I need to find myself desperately seeking God’s glory, looking for His leading, and submitting to his will. Sometimes that’s a mystery, but I know that it always revolves me making a big deal about him, and less about me.
Love this. Be Ready.
Very well said. This is a lesson I’m learning on a regular basis.
