Luminous is back for another year. I affectionately call Luminous the feelers conference. I think there are a few conferences that have identified their audiences and experiences:
STORY is great if you want to be refueled and inspired.
ECHO is great to learn the practical side of creative ministry.
CATALYST is all about leadership and they do it well.
LUMINOUS is where you go to have a spiritual experience. It is a unique and connected tribe led by Chad and his team of amazing “ministers”. They would probably not call themselves that, but it is what they are. When I go to Luminous I see people being refueled spiritually and challenged spiritually.
God is a creative god. He knew we would need different types of churches, conferences, and friends because he knew he made us all very different. I asked Chad a few questions about Luminous and here is what he said:
- What is the mission of Luminous? Luminous Project is designed to encourage, inspirer, and enlighten.
- Who is the audience? Church and ministry leaders, non-profits, and anyone who needs to Converse, Commune, and Be. We’re a blend of academic and artists.
- What can people expect when they come to Luminous? It’s best to hear that from others who have been there: “The Luminous Project provided a safe room, a deep breath, and a taste of absolute beauty.” –Gary Molander
- “Luminous was like a breath of fresh air for my soul. The opportunity to participate in things like silence and reflection at an event is so rare these days and was just what I needed.” –Tom Read
- “Luminous is a deep breath, a place of Shalom, where stillness, art, and conversation nourish the soul and enliven the mind.” –Sheila Mullican
- What makes Luminous unique? From what I hear from other who does multiple conferences a year, the conversations, discussion opportunities at Luminous are unique. We build in time and space to discuss thoughtful topics together. We tend to lean towards the “why” questions, not just the “how to”.
So here is the 411. Check it out. Luminous 2014
