I can’t stand excuses. I think they’re lame and they provide the “easy out” for us too many times because it’s easier to make excuses than it is to take responsibility. At the same time, I’m a whole hearted believer that we have the choice to live a “GET TO” life.
Part of removing excuses is having them dismissed. It’s amazing how little validity these vaunted beliefs we call excuses have once they are verbalized. So let’s dispel what most people believe are the top seven lame excuses keeping you from being creative:
- I don’t have the time. – If you have to do work, you may as well make it creative work.
- I’m not supported. – Rarely is there any support for anything that’s not widely successful.
- I don’t have the resources. – That’s what creativity is about – making something out of nothing.
- I’m too busy. – Who isn’t busy? We all are. Prioritize what’s important to you.
- What if I fail? – What if you succeed? And if you fail, what if you learn something?
- I’m not creative – We all were born creative, some of us just kept using those muscles. Get in the “gym” and start working your creativity out!
So right now, change it up. It’s time to create and innovate. We need your work, your art, and your contribution to make our work better. You got this and we need you to have it. LET’S GO!
